Nintendo’s Duck Hunt Ported to Android, Light Gun Not Supported

When I was a kid, the coolest gaming console around was the Nintendo Entertainment System. One of its cooler accessories was the “Light Gun” — a pistol-shaped controller that would detect squares of light on the screen to register “hits” or misses.

There were two especially sweet games that you could play with your Light Gun: Hogan’s Alley and Duck Hunt.

Now that I’ve grown up and moved on to Android, one of those games from my childhood has come to my smartphone!

Duck Hunt is an unofficial port of Nintendo’s game, complete with sound effects, music, and all the game play that I remember from when I was a kid.

The only thing missing? It’s not compatible with my Light Gun.

As quickly as we could share it with everyone, according to Droid Gamers the game has been pulled from the Android Market. Nintendo, perhaps you might consider releasing your classic games. It would stem-off the “unofficial ports” and could provide you with a new revenue stream.
