Samsung Wants Women Buying 5-Inch-Plus Phones Like Galaxy Note
Though it’s not being explicitly marketed as such, it’s no secret that the HTC Rhyme is a design that’s been executed with female smartphone users in mind. Just how feminine the phone actually ended up is a point for debate, but it certainly makes us aware that gender issues appear to be impacting manufacturers’ decisions for how they shape their product lineups. Some recent comments from Samsung reveal that it took a similar approach for its Galaxy Note, and offer insight into what types of smartphones are being targeted towards women.
Samsung sees the no-man’s-land between typical smartphone and tablet screen sizes as ideal for women, if only because of purses. After all, a smaller smartphone easily slides into most pockets, and if you’re carrying around a tablet, you’ll likely need something the size of a backpack or briefcase in which to stow it. Purses, Samsung reasons, uniquely enable women to conveniently carry around a device in this 5-to-7-inch range.
More than just being thoughtful about device size, Samsung has other plans in store to get the attention of women, including offering the Note in a series of color variations.
