Samsung Upgraded Phones In Order To Avoid Dutch Sales Ban

As a direct effect of legal the war between Apple and Samsung, a Dutch judge has ruled back in August that the Korean company infringed an Apple patent and imposed a sales injunction on the Galaxy S, S II and Ace devices.

“We’ve fixed the technological problem and upgraded products to address the issue. They will be shortly available for sale” said James Chung, Samsung spokesman. The patent in question upon which the Dutch judge ruled that Samsung was infringing allowed for a method of scrolling or browsing through photos in the affected Samsung devices. As the ban only referred to a software bit, Samsung might have included its own picture viewer (or method of scrolling/browsing) to remove the affected bit and keep up the sales. There was no official word though on what the manufacturer updated nor on when these “upgraded” phones will reach the market.
