Eldar Murtazin: Google/Samsung ICS Event Delayed Due To Patents

It’s been a while since we heard from Eldar Murtazin, the man who comes forward every now and then with some exclusive or leaked information. Without judging on his track record, his latest tweet tries to explain the Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung Nexus Prime launch delay.

Google was supposed to intro its latest version of Android, dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich, in a joint Samsung event where the phone maker would have introduced the Nexus Prime Google-phone today at CTIA Fall. The event has been postponed to a later date and, while some speculate the reason behind it being Steve Jobs’ passing away or waiting for the Nokia World event, Murtazin says it’s all about the patent war.

The “Nexus Prime and Android 4.0 are under question”, says Murtazin, mainly because Google has to remove “some features which are subject of patent war. No timeline for this job”. This could either be a hit or a miss since Google is constantly updating its Android platform in order to obey patents (i.e.: Android 2.3.5 changes the scrolling mechanism). We don’t think Google started to build the Ice Cream Sandwich platform using intellectual property that was attributed to someone else but anything can happen in the patent world. What do you think?
