Acer Confirms Working On Windows Phone 7
Gianfranco Lanci, CEO for Acer, has confirmed in a recent interview that the company is working on Windows Phone 7, without mentioning a time frame, availability or other information though.
Gianfranco Lanci declared that Windows Phone limitations in the past together with user experience were the main reasons they’ve switched to the Android platform but taking a look at Windows Phone 7 today, Acer sees “the same opportunity you can see on Android in terms of customization”. We’re sure he meant user experience and wanted to emphasize on the freedom of creating the device your own by taking advantage of the flexibility of the Start screen and Live Tiles as Microsoft denied customizations for Windows Phone 7 — even for companies like HTC. When exactly we’ll see Acer Windows Phone 7 devices is yet unclear and taking into consideration that the U.S. market is not one of Acer’s main markets (that’s Europe) we’re a bit skeptical about American availability but surely looking forward to seeing another manufacturer in the Windows Phone 7 game.
