LG LS831 Hits FCC With CDMA Bands; Could It Be The LG Fantasy?

When we see an unknown phone model pop up on a benchmarking site, there’s plenty we have to consider before getting excited about a new smartphone on the way. Could it be an internal development model, never meant to see the light of day? Is it just some punk kid submitting bogus data to mess with us? One particular LG model has been appearing on such lists for the past couple months, and now there’s evidence making the handset seem very real indeed, as it gets its FCC certification.

LG’s LS831 is a Windows Phone handset; that much we know from its appearances in the database for WP Bench. Until now, those were the only signs we had of the phone, but this recent publication of FCC paperwork adds one new wrinkle to the story: the LS831 will be a CDMA device. It feels like CDMA Windows Phone handsets are still playing catch-up after their delayed initial release, so WP7 fans at Verizon and Sprint should be excited that at least one more new model is on its way; we’re not sure yet at just which carrier the LS831 will arrive.

We’re expecting the LG Fantasy to be a WP7 phone that comes out this year. It very well could be the LS831, but we’ve also heard of models like the LG-T130L that could be the Fantasy, instead.
