Update: Apple To Release iOS 5 and iCloud On October 12th

Apple’s “Let’s talk iPhone” event is currently rolling and we’ve just learned that Apple will release iOS 5 and iCloud to the public on October 12th. iOS 5 brings dramatic improvements to the current iOS 4 with features like Notifications Center, iMessage, Reminders and also the ability to now use your iOS device without the need of a PC.

iCloud brings users the ability to sync your personal data, images, documents and other services seamlessly between your iOS, your Mac and the cloud. It also allows you to back-up and restore your iOS devices with the cloud while they are charging. The service will be free at launch if you chose to stick with the included 5GB of storage, or you can pay for more.

Update Apple has also confirmed that iTunes Match will be released by the end of October in the US.

Apple still hasn’t released the Gold Master candidate to developers, but it’s only a matter of time before we see it rolling.
