HTC Thunderbolt Gingerbread Issues Putting A Stop To Update?

It may have taken until right up against the very end of the month to do so, but HTC reached its goal of having the Gingerbread update for its Thunderbolt ready to go for Verizon subscribers. Did it maybe push a little too hard to reach that deadline, though, and ended up with a sub-par release? Users who installed the update report a variety of problems creeping-up, and it appears that Verizon may have since halted its distribution.

Voicemail notifications are reportedly breaking post-update, leaving you guessing as to whether or not you have any messages waiting. Thankfully, there’s an unofficial fix that appears to resolve the issue, but it’s a bit more on the technical side than some users may be comfortable with trying themselves. Connectivity issues are also causing problems, affecting Google Talk and keeping some Thunderbolt users from accessing the service.

We haven’t heard any official response form HTC or Verizon regarding these issues, but we’re sure there are plenty of Thunderbolt users who are antsy for news; with a little luck, we might hope to hear something next week, maybe even with a fixed update available.
