BlackBerry Bold 9790, Curve 9380 Show On RIM Developer Site

Leaked pics and videos have been keeping us aware of the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and Curve 9380 for a while now, but RIM has yet to officially launch either smartphone. That time may be coming soon, now, with news of the discovery that both handsets have been added as options in the BlackBerry App World developer portal.

The Bold 9790 looks like it will squeeze much of the power of the larger Bold 9900 into a slimmed-down package; you’ll still have that 1.2GHz processor, NFC capabilities, and hardware QWERTY keyboard.

The Curve 9380 eschews the keyboard for a full-touchscreen experience, though it’s not quite as powerful as the Bold. It will still have an NFC transceiver, but will be powered by a slower 800MHz chip.

All we need now is for RIM to launch the pair, and it had really think about doing so sooner rather than later. We’re just about to hit a wave a Mango, Apple’s next iPhone shouldn’t be far off, and then come the Ice Cream Sandwich handsets. The best of RIM’s newest BlackBerry hardware has arguably already been released, and it’s not doing itself any favors by keeping this pair on ice any longer than need be; they’re not going to get any more relevant as time goes on.
