Notion Ink CEO Hints Late October ICS Launch, OMAP Preferred

Here comes an interesting bit of information from Rohan Shravan, CEO of Notion Ink, coming as a confirmation of what we already suspect: Google will launch its next Android platform, Ice Cream Sandwich, in late October. This is falls roughly in place with Eric Schmidt’s comments of ICS being “released in October/November”.

On the same note, it appears that devices packing OMAP chips will be preferred to those equipped with Tegra2 SOCs, having the update delivered earlier to them. We’ve already heard rumors of ICS being optimized for Texas Instruments chips back at the end of May and this might come as an indirect confirmation.

Also, the CEO has confirmed that Google has already seeded its ODMs (original design manufacturer) with early builds of Ice Cream Sandwich, even if Notion Ink is not part of these. Now, with a timeframe roughly being set, we are just waiting for official wording on the new platform.
