Maintenance Updates Arriving: Moto Photon 4G, Samsung Infuse 4G
It’s hardly as exciting as when a phone gets a significant OS update, but those little maintenance updates that trickle out between major releases help keep our phones running at peak performance. Two such underdogs are on their way to Android devices as we speak: one to the Motorola Photon 4G on Sprint, and another to Samsung’s Infuse 4G on AT&T.
The Photon 4G is heading up to software release 4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_6, mentioning only changes to WiFi functionality in its release notes. Users who have received the update have noticed some performance gains; at least we know it doesn’t make things worse.
Samsung’s Infuse 4G update is a 14.5MB release that, for now at least, no one seems to know what it does. Since the phone is still craving a push over to Gingerbread, there’s speculation that this release could be a pre-update-update, setting the phone up to be ready for Gingerbread when it eventually arrives. We haven’t seen any evidence to that end, but the update does have to have some purpose, after all. Have any users who have installed it noticed any changes?
