Sprint’s Galaxy S2, Epic Touch 4G, Could Launch September 9

We’ve recently heard that the eagerly-awaited Samsung Galaxy S2 wouldn’t come to Sprint as the Galaxy Within, as we had been expecting it to for months, but would instead find a home on the carrier as the Epic Touch 4G, and would launch sometime in September. A follow-up to that rumor reinforces the new choice of a name, and hopes to narrow down that release windows, claiming that the smartphone will go up for sale on September 9.

In addition to the Epic Touch 4G, apparently there was also word floating around that Sprint’s GS2 might be called the Epic 4G Touch; the source for this rumor says that the word arrangement is definitely the former. It still feels like an odd decision to us, considering the name recognition the Galaxy S2 has, but we’re sure Sprint has its reasons.

The supposed September 9 release date is said to be a the result of a decision to distance the phone’s launch from the anniversary of the second World Trade Center attacks, marking ten years since the event that Sunday, a day of the week that’s more typical for Sprint releases.
