Think of Microsoft Lync as Windows Live Messenger for business and, according to the information unveiled at TechED New Zealand, the Lync client should be available for Windows Phone, Android, iOS and Symbian-powered devices in the last quarter of the year.

Lync mobile will offer both audio and video conferencing options in addition to the plain text chat, so aside from Skype, Lync will also take advantage on Windows Phone with front-facing cameras. It will definitely take the form of a separate client but whether it will deeply integrate with the People Hub and Messaging as Facebook does in Mango for instance is still not known. Check out the short video below to see what it’s about and ignore the beta client crashes.
