Newest Swype With Gesture Support a Sprint Nexus S 4G Exclusive

Just a couple of months ago, Swype came out with the beta release of Swype 3.0, adding new features like the ability to make use of the app’s predictive text engine when entering text via tap, instead of swipe. While that had been the way to get the very latest Swype onto your smartphone, the latest release is a little more exclusive, coming first to users of the Nexus S 4G on Sprint.

This release adds the ability to perform certain actions via gesture. To quickly paste text you’ve stored on the clipboard, you simply swipe from the onscreen Swype key to the the letter V, mirroring the Control-V that would perform the same action on a PC. You can also use gestures to interact with other apps; highlight an address, for instance, then swipe from the Swype key, to G, then M, to launch Google Maps with the highlighted text as your search term.

If you’ve got a Nexus S 4G, the new Swype is available to you now; just follow the instruction on Swype’s site for installing the software on your phone. We don’t exactly when it might come to other smartphones, so the rest of you will just have to be patient for the time being.
