Samsung Galaxy S II, Attain or Captivate II For AT&T?

Ever since we heard about the codenames for the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S II variants (Attain, Function, Within) there’s been speculation about the device names. Verizon recently referred to its version as the Fascinate II — later on the Stratosphere name popped up — and now we hear about the Captivate II for AT&T for the first time.

Someone called AT&T and asked for information about upcoming high-end android phones with a QWERTY keyboard. The rep at the other end of the line indicated that there will be the Captivate II running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and sporting a physical keyboard. We know AT&T is preparing a QWERTY Android made by Samsung and it’s called SGH-i927. Because the rep indicated specifically that there will be a QWERTY on it, he basically named the i927 the Captivate II. Does that make it the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II?

Let’s not forget that we previously met the dilemma of AT&T actually planning to have not one, but two Samsung Galaxy S II devices: one with a keyboard and one without it. The theory is unlikely but not impossible in which case what would be the Captivate II? Or should we expect a completely new name soon, a la Verizon Stratosphere? What do you think?
