CEO Peter Chou: HTC Planning For Six To Eight New Phones In Q3

HTC is no stranger to breaking sales records and it looks like the manufacturer has decided to maintain its growing tendency with its own CEO talking about projected sales of 13.5 million phones for the third quarter of the year.

The Taiwanese phone maker will try to achieve this by preparing to launch anywhere between six and eight new smartphone models in Q3. According to Peter Chou, these phones will all be mid-to-high range models and will hopefully contribute to reaching that 13.5 million figure targeted, accounting for a 1.39 million increase from 12.11 units sold in Q2. By releasing only mid and high-range models, HTC will also recover from its 2.8% Q2 decrease in average selling price (to which cheaper models like the Wildfire S and the ChaCha contributed).

Whether this quarter, with its six or eight new HTC phones, will include the launch of Windows Phone Mango and thus the handsets to go with it is uncertain. Regardless, expect to see at least three or four (if not all of them) Android phones in case Mango comes in Q4.
