We knew Verizon was preparing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Motorola Droid X2 and last week, the carrier itself even tweeted that the platform refresh has been released, being rolled-out in stages. You can now grab it for your Motorola Droid X2.

If you go to Menu, Settings, About phone, System updates, you will reportedly be able to pull, download and install the latest Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for your Droid X2. The version number should be 1.3.232.MB870 and aside from Google’s latest mobile platform you’ll also get an updated version of Blur. There are also a couple of device-specific fixes included (a fix for black screen, HDMI-out improvements, and some general stability issues being ironed out) so it’s definitely beneficial to update your phone.
