iOS App Picks 27 Jul 2011

In this episode of the iOS App Picks we demonstrate five applications in 30 seconds each. These apps will keep you entertained, create a sphere of photos that are stitched together, and keep an accurate record of your data usage. To download these apps directly to your iPhone, just click on the title of the application and the iTunes software will automatically launch to the app in the App Store. If you have the free Google Search app installed on your iPhone just snap a picture of the QR-Code using Google Goggles or any other QR-Code scanner that will launch the App Store on your iPhone.

Data Usage – $0.99 full version, no lite version available

With more mobile service providers opting to adapt tiered data plans it makes sense to keep track of your data to prevent overage fees. Data Usage will keep track of all the uploaded and downloaded data that your iOS device handles. Set a monthly limit and be notified when you are approaching that limit. There are many settings available from editing when your billing cycle will start and end to how your data should be displayed.

The Incredible Machine – $0.99 full version, no lite version available

The Incredible Machine is a challenging yet addictive puzzle game that will test your ingenuity. The object of each level is stated in the beginning in which you must position various objects and tools on the screen to achieve the goal. Acquire all three stars in each level to gain that perfect score.

Photosynth – A free application

Photosynth is an amazing app that will stitch photos together automatically just by rotating your iOS device. The app works by using the camera and accelerometer to orient itself so it knows exactly where the next photo should be positioned in the array. Photosynth is easy to use and produces a “sphere” of images which can be shared, uploaded, and saved to your iOS photo album. Sign up for the free Photosynth account with your Windows Live ID to save the photos online.

Dragon Dictation – A free application

Dragon has been in the business of helping people dictate their documents for over a decade, and the Dragon Dictation app is an example to their success. The app is very accurate at recognizing how you speak your words. Just say whatever you would like Dragon Dictation to write and the words are processed in seconds. Use the text in SMS, email, copy it, or share it over Facebook and Twitter.

Trapster – A free application

Trapster is a great app for anyone that has a little lead in their foot. The app works by displaying speed traps, red light camera, and other traffic notices on your iOS device screen to help prevent getting fined. Users of the Trapster app alert other drivers of potential risky areas.
