Leaked iPhone 5 Case Renders Show Return To Curved Back

Rumors have been piling up lately pointing to Apple releasing its next-generation iPhone sometime this September. With that rapidly approaching, manufacturers of iPhone accessories need to start getting their product lines together, so they’re ready when the smartphone launches. Luckily for us, that means the chance to get a peek at a case or two, giving us some clues about the new iPhone’s construction.

A pair of case designs, purporting to be for the iPhone 5, have leaked, showing off a return to earlier iPhone styling. If these accurately reflect Apple’s new design, we’re looking at eschewing the iPhone 4’s flat back in favor of a curved surface. That’s something we’ve seen in case designs before, though these renders show a slightly different shape to the curved edge than earlier mock-ups.

The designs suggest the new, larger screen we’ve heard about may be accurate, taking up the phone’s face all the way to the edge. It also looks like Apple may be rearranging the button layout, swapping volume controls around. Sadly, only one of the renders of these cases gives us much detail, but the other at least confirms what design features we can make out. If these are legit, we can hope to see leaks of other similar cases in the coming weeks.
