Apple Rumored To Be Bidding For Hulu
After Microsoft was reportedly placing an offer and then withdrawing (for the time being) from the Hulu bidding, it’s now Apple’s turn to consider placing one, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Bloomberg reports that Cupertino is in early talks that may lead to an offer for Hulu which would give Apple a subscription service capable of competing with Netflix. While Hulu did not comment on the information, Scott Sutherland, Wedbush Securities Inc. analyst thinks that “part of the ecosystem of Apple’s future is to include more video”.
According to the same people Bloomberg cites, Hulu’s owners — Walt Disney Co., News Corp. and Comcast Corp.’s NBC Universal — are offering suitors a five-year extension of program rights, including two years of exclusive access. Apple, how about a subscription based streaming music and video offering?
