HTC Sensation Unofficial Bootloader Unlock Demoed

HTC recently updated owners of the Sensation, Sensation 4G on T-Mobile, and EVO 3D, informing them that its progress towards releasing unlocked bootloaders for their phones was coming along nicely, and that it’s currently testing the software updates in anticipation of an August or early September release. If patience isn’t your strong suit, we’ve got a treat for you today, with the announcement of an unofficial unlock for the Sensation’s bootloader.

Team AlphaRevX demoed the code setting the Sensation’s flash to S-OFF, opening it up for full write access. Right now, it’s only working on the Sensation, though the group claims to be working on the EVO 3D as well, and hopes to have something to show shortly. Whether or not that will be before the solution for the Sensation is released, we can’t say, but we have the feeling that tools for both models will be public shortly.

For now at least, it looks like the unlocked bootloader will only be available for unbranded Sensations, and not the 4G. That may change before the code is released, but in any case, we have an official HTC solution arriving in the near future.
