LG Optimus Net P690 Android Specced Out
About a month ago, we showed you some blurrycam photos of in-production/upcoming smartphones from a few manufacturers. By far the sharpest pic of the bunch belonged to the sole LG model. It looked a bit like an Optimus One, but we didn’t really have anything else to go on. Now that mystery appears solved, with the smartphone revealed as the LG Optimus Net P690.
We thought this might be a low-to-mid-range phone, and that assessment is looking spot-on. The handset is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227T with Adreno 200 graphics. The display’s a tiny 3.2 inches, with a low-res HVGA 320 x 480 screen. On the plus side, it will at least ship with Android Gingerbread 2.3.3, so you’re not stuck with low-end hardware along with Froyo, and there’s 512MB of RAM, which could have been a bit lower for a budget model.
While the Optimus Net will have quad-band GSM, its WCDMA bands mean we won’t be seeing the smartphone in the US anytime soon; look for it to show up in Europe, and possibly in Asia. We’re not sure what special meaning may lie in the phone’s name; social networking, perhaps? Could be, but we wouldn’t expect any special software on a phone like this, so the name may not hold any significance, after all.
