Google Shopper 2.0 Gets New Look, Adds Google Offers
With the introduction of Google Wallet, the company is really starting to step up its game when it comes to the world of consumerism. That’s not to say that Google’s ever really been a stranger when it comes to online transactions, but smartphones are really letting the company explore new ways to introduce potential buyers to products and help them purchase them. Some users may favor Google Goggles for looking up information on items they’re interested in getting, while others may turn to the dedicated solution offered as Google Shopper, which has just been updated to version 2.0
The new Google Shopper reorganizes some things within the app, letting you quickly navigate through it by means of a row of tabs at the bottom of the screen. You’ll also find that the buttons for things like your search history have jumped around.
Content-wise, Google Shopper now integrates with the fledgling Google Offers, presenting a one-deal-a-day option for users in an area supported by the service; for now, that includes Portland, San Francisco, and New York City. You can also get access to similar deals through the Google Places integration, where companies that have a Places page can offer their customers discounts through Google. You can discover those deals through the “nearby offers” tab, using your smartphone’s location to display what’s available in your vicinity.
The app is available now in the Android Market, for US and UK users on Eclair or better.
