Sprint Nexus S 4G to Get Official Software Update on July 11

The Samsung made Google Nexus S, as a “Google phone”, offers the best Android possible and the Sprint version, the Nexus S 4G, delivers just as well. There are a couple of issues with the phone though but there’s an upcoming software update to care of the issues.

Coming July 11, the new firmware GRJ90 will bring a couple of new features as well as fixes to the phone. First of all the NFC Secure Element will be enabled; a 4G Settings Widget will be added in addition to the tuned signal strength indicators. TTY support is in and so is NI push support with a probably new Radio trying to cope with all the signal issues users were having on both 4G and WiFi. It will improve WiFi connectivity, speakerphone audio quality, 4G throughput and signal acquisition.

The roll-out should begin next Monday and will span over four days in which your Nexus S 4G will alert you of its existence. From there on it’s just plain updating and hopefully issue fixing.
