MetroPCS Launches Huawei M835 Froyo Android For $80
MetroPCS continues to flesh-out its lineup of Android phones, putting together a mix of LTE-capable models and some entries from lesser-known manufacturers. The carrier already had one Huawei Android on-board, the Ascend, and now it’s bringing in the Huawei M835 to keep it company.
While the Ascend is still on Eclair, the M835 ships with Froyo. It has a slightly smaller screen than the Ascend, down to 3.2 inches, but with a mere QVGA resolution. Between that and the 256MB of RAM, it’s pretty clear the M835 isn’t going to get much attention from serious Android fans. A straight dismissal would be missing the point, though, as the M835 is all about value; with some special introductory savings, you can pick up the M835 for a scant $80, no contract needed. Even with low-end specs, that’s a pretty great price for a smartphone, free-and-clear.
The M835 has a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 1200mAh battery, and comes with a 2GB microSD card. The tiny phone weighs just under 3.9 ounces; that’s not much more than the petite HP Veer.
Once MetroPCS’s instant discount on the M835 expires, the smartphone will go to its regular price of $130 (which makes this meager hardware look a whole lot less attractive), so act quick if you want to get in on the deal.
