Apple Too Seeks U.S. Samsung Phone Import Bans

On June 30 we reported that Samsung was asking the U.S. International Trade Commission to ban iPhone imports to the States. Now Apple is firing back with the same cannon, or at least using the same ammo.

Cupertino filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington seeking to block imports of the Samsung Galaxy S, claiming infringement of seven technology and design patents. Apple also recently filed an injunction to ban Samsung smartphones from the U.S. and then later the Korean manufacturer dropped one of the lawsuits against Cupertino in order to “streamline proceedings”.

According to a Gleacher & Co analyst, Samsung and Apple won’t fight too long as a settlement could be in place soon. Apple “may not have a choice” but to license its intellectual property “because Samsung has so many patents Apple may need”.
