HP Taking Pre 3 EU Pre-Orders; Shipping Mid-July?
Earlier this year, it was looking as if Europe would have its hands on HP’s Pre 3 by now, with pre-orders for the smartphone open since May, in preparation for a late June launch. With June come and gone, when will the Pre 3 finally materialize? HP has since added Pre 3 pre-orders to its own website (our prior experience with them was through Amazon), taking orders for the webOS handset with plans to start shipping in a couple weeks.
HP’s direct pricing for the Pre 3 matches what we saw with Amazon, costing you the equivalent of about $640. The company marks the smartphone as “currently out of stock”, and though it doesn’t appear to offer an estimation of when the Pre 3 will become available, we’ve heard rumors that it should emerge around mid-July.
We’ve heard about the possibility for the Pre 3 to launch on Verizon in the US on July 21, and there could be an AT&T Pre 3 dropping sometime around then, as well. A mid-July launch in Europe would make plenty of sense, then, working towards widespread availability of the smartphone by the start of August. There hasn’t been any word on what the Pre 3 might fetch in the States, but subsidies will likely cut the price in half, at the least. We should get some kind of news pretty soon if we’re really looking at July launches.
