Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray Expected for August in UK

Sony Ericsson broke news of the Xperia Ray (along with the Xperia Active) a little over a week ago, announcing availability would be sometime in Q3 2011. We still don’t have a precise launch date, but we can narrow down the range of when to expect it a little more now, with the arrival of word that the Ray is expected by retailers in the UK sometime this August.

Carphone Warehouse has put up a pre-launch page for the Xperia Ray, where you can submit your information to receive an update when orders finally start for the smartphone. While the retailer acknowledges that factors may change when the phone ends up launching, for now it’s expecting the Xperia to be available in August.

While only sporting a 3.3-inch screen, the Ray’s use of Sony’s Bravia engine means we should be looking forward to some bright, crisp graphics. You’ll also be able to make pretty pictures of your own, thanks to the smartphone’s Exmor R image sensor, capable of eight-megapixel shots. The Android is expected to ship running Gingerbread revision 2.3.3. We’re still waiting on hearing what the Ray will end up costing interested customers.
