Motorola Droid 2 Getting CyanogenMod; Nightlies Out Tonight
These past few weeks are turning out to be an exciting time to be a Motorola Android owner if you’re into some custom ROM action. Earlier this month, the Droid X joined the ranks of smartphones running CyanogenMod 7. Now it’s time for the Droid 2 to follow suit, with the addition of Droid 2 project code to the main CM7 repository.
Work on the Droid 2 has been in the works on the fringe of CyanogenMod, thanks to the efforts of Android guru JBirdVegas. His code is being merged with the primary CyanogenMod development tree, and he’s tweeted that nightly builds of CM7 for the Droid 2 will be accessible as of tonight.
With the Droid 2 joining the original Droid and the Droid X as part of the CyanogenMod family, what do you think will be next? At this point, should we just wait for Motorola to get around to providing the unlocked bootloaders it promised?
