Facebook for Android Problems Appear Since Last Update
Android Facebook users have likely upgraded to the newly-released version 1.6 by now, adding support for video uploads and viewing Pages. Despite this progress, it looks like a few problems have crept up with this new version of the app, but some of them, at least, are easily fixable.
One problem noticed by many users is a hyperactive news feed, automatically refreshing its contents over and over. Though the data usage may not be major, it does add up to an unnecessary drain on your smartphone’s battery life. Especially if lots of your friends are active, that constant stream of updates can also make it quite difficult to read through the list.
The other biggie, though it seems to be striking fewer users, is a problem where your Android forgets how to handle links to Facebook data that pop up as notifications. Instead of bringing up the relevant content through the app, after the update is installed, you’re sent to Facebook’s mobile site via your browser.
The best fix for now, until Facebook updates the app, is simply to uninstall and reinstall. That seems to do the trick for the news feed issue, and may take care of the notification problem as well.
