HTC Says No Sense UI 3.0 for Thunderbolt, Devs Beg to Differ

When we reviewed the HTC Thunderbolt we told you that this superphone was coming with HTC’s Sense UI 2.0 — which was starting to show its age at the time. The EVO 3D, announced at CTIA, was shown running an “updated” version of Sense UI, which we later would learn to be version 3.

Owners were hopeful their Sense would be updated, but HTC offered no help and later announced the Sense 3 wouldn’t be coming to the Thunderbolt. Nothing gets developers more motivated than saying something won’t be done — or can’t be.

The latest version of the Das BAMF Gingerbread ROM includes the coveted Sense 3.0! The current iteration of the ROM has some bugs, like a “glitchy” front-facing camera (but there is a work-around for that). If you have a rooted phone with S-Off, and Clockwork Recovery you can give the ROM a try. If you do, we’d like to know what you think! Let us know in the comments!
