GPS Tuner’s Navigation App Now With Offline Maps

We were pretty impressed with GPS Tuner’s original Turn-by-Turn Navigation app for Windows Phone 7 which nicely gave us voice prompts while driving to a destination. Today the app was updated in the Marketplace with some excellent new features. The big one is support for downloading offline maps! If you set a destination, then go to the menu at the bottom and tap “Download Map”, you’ll see a nice little interface that will allow you select portions of the map to download for offline use. It automatically highlights the area that’s along your route and even shows you an estimate of how much storage space your selection is going to take up on your phone.

You can find the “Turn by Turn Navigation” program from GPS Tuner in the Windows Phone Marketplace for $4.99, or download the free trial version which has the same functionality except you can only calculate trips with distances of up to 12 miles (which is great if you don’t want to drive too far).
