Virgin Mobile Motorola Triumph Could Land July 19
After catching a glimpse at the then-unnamed Motorola Triumph for Virgin mobile back in April, the smartphone made its formal debut at Sprint and Motorola’s NYC press event earlier this month. At the time, the best info we had on when to expect the Triumph to go up for sale was simply sometime this summer. Now we’ve been able to pin the release down to a specific day, with the revelation of an advertisement claiming the Triumph will become available on July 19.
The Triumph, you may remember, is a no-nonsense Froyo Android, eschewing user interface customizations in favor of a stock installation (peppered with a few Virgin Mobile apps). Maybe you’re looking to save battery life, maybe you just prefer the natural Android look; whatever the case, Virgin’s got you covered. While the phone’s hardware doesn’t scream “top of the line”, the MSM8655 Snapdragon and 512MB of RAM should handle your basic needs.
While the July 19 release date sounds plausible, what we’re really interested in learning is the Triumph’s intended price, considering the limited options available in the US for smartphones with pre-paid service. With its relatively large 4.1-inch 800×480 WVGA screen, it will be interesting to see how affordably Virgin Mobile will be able to price the smartphone.
