Nokia Releasing QWERTY WP7 Model This Year?
Windows Phone 7 doesn’t exactly have a lack of smartphones with hardware QWERTY keyboards, but there’s not quite a glut of them, either. If you’re still rocking an IBM Model M keyboard at your PC, and really enjoy the tactile response of a key moving as you type, the future looks bright for your options when it comes to WP7 smartphones, with models like the Dell Wrigley and HTC Prime on the horizon. Now there’s a chance that Nokia may be adding to that selection, releasing a QWERTY slider for the platform.
This news comes out of a Nokia event held last night, where a rep for the company discussed its intentions to go after business smartphone users. Hoping to snag some of those BlackBerry users with their love for hardware keyboards, the company did not out-and-out com firm that it would have a QWERTY-enabled model among its first WP7 smartphones, but strongly implied that it could be the case.
Nokia’s first WP7 devices should be arriving sometime in Q4 2011.
