No 1080p Video Recording for HTC EVO 3D
From the very first time we saw the specs for the HTC EVO 3D on Sprint, it was promoted as supporting 3D video recording at 720p, and standard 2D recording at full 1080p. Now with the smartphone nearly upon us, those specs are getting a hasty revision, knocking all video recording down to 720p.
After being contacted by testers who noticed the option to record in 1080p wasn’t available, Sprint responded by apologizing and explaining that the mention of 1080p was “a typo in the spec sheet”. A typo would be 1030p or 1080k, Sprint. This looks to either have been a miscommunication, or (and forgive us for being cynical) a last-minute decision to disable a feature that may have been pushing the limits of the phone’s processing power. Just look at the problems LG had with the Optimus 2x maintaining an acceptable frame rate when in 1080p recording mode.
Sure, 720p will be good enough for most of us, but darn it if we don’t hate seeing smartphone specs getting downgraded just prior to their release.
