Verizon Motorola Droid 2 Global Gets Android 2.3 Gingerbread

After previously confirming the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Droids in the Motorola line-up — Droid Pro, 2, 2 Global, and X — Verizon has finally outed the long waited platform refresh for the Droid 2 Global, after properly testing it with a select group of users.

The version is 4.5.600.A956.Verizon.en.US and it will bring you all the bugfixes and security patches of Android 2.3 Gingerbread for you QWERTY slider. The update weighs around 100MB and brings a customizable dock that can hold up three shortcuts of your choice. Also included is a Download Manager App as well as data encryption so you might want to upgrade your OS if you want to take advantage of the new features.
