Motorola Droid 3 and Droid X2 Appear in Best Buy Computers

The revelation of some Motorola Droid 3 hardware last week had us hoping that the latest edition of the popular smartphone lineup would be soon upon us. With the Droid Bionic sent back to the engineers for an overhaul, the Droid 3 and the keyboard-less Droid X² would have to satisfy our Droid cravings for the time being. That just begs the question of when we can expect either of those models to surface. Best Buy, for one, looks like it’s getting ready for both smartphones to drop, adding the Droid 3 and Droid X² to its computer systems.

As you can see in the leaked screenshot, the Motorola Droid 3 should be model XT862, and the Droid X² will be MB870. These entries are part of Best Buy’s Cellebrite system, used for transferring phone data between different models. The inclusion of the Droids here is just one step the company will need to take before sales of the phones can begin. While this doesn’t do much in the way of helping us nail down a release date, it’s a definitely a step in the right direction.

It’s interesting to see that there’s still a spot being held for the Droid Bionic, until that model is ready to take its second shot at a launch, hopefully with enough improvements to get Motorola confident in its performance. Look for it to reemerge this summer.
