HTC ChaCha Gets Faster CPU

The HTC ChaCha, one of two Facebook-centric Android phones, is rolling out across Europe right now, and will begin shipping on AT&T in the US later this year. The phone features a front-facing full QWERTY keyboard for easy text entry, plus many interface enhancements that make it easy to quickly share a webpage, picture, or message with your Facebook friends. The ChaCha was first slated to be released with a 600MHz Qualcomm CPU. Turns out that HTC has bumped the CPU clock by a pretty significant 33% to 800MHz. It’s possible that HTC found that at 600MHz, battery life was stellar, and that boosting the CPU clock by another 200MHz would make the device signicicantly faster, while still maintaining good battery life. And since faster is always better, we’re happy with this.
