BlackBerry Bold 9900 Not Arriving Until September?
A leaked T-Mobile roadmap that surface last month revealed some tentative launch dates for a bunch of upcoming smartphones on the carrier. While the list was dominated by Android devices, it did include RIM’s latest BlackBerry Bold model, the 9900. According to that info, the 9900 was set to launch on August 17. Now some new rumors cast doubt on that estimation, saying the smartphone won’t be released until September.
BGR says it’s confirmed the September release window with several of its sources, giving it confidence in the new date. Technically, RIM could still pull off the summer release RIM promised, but there’s no other info narrowing down just when in the month we could expect the new Bold to arrive.
Not only will the 9900 be the thinnest BlackBerry to date, measuring in at 10.5 millimeters thick, but the new hardware should also make it one of the most powerful. The new 1.2GHz processor runs at nearly double the clock speed of the Bold 9780, and system memory will be expanded up to 768MB. We’ll just have to wait a little longer to finally get our chance to pick up the 9900 and check out the new BlackBerry OS 7.
