Apple’s Own Steve Jobs Will Unveil iOS 5 and iCloud At WWDC

If you had any doubts on what to expect for Apple’s next WWDC 2011 event, look no further. With an official statement titled “Apple to Unveil Next Generation Software at Keynote Address on Monday, June 6”, and later mentioning that Steve Jobs will kick off the event where key names like iOS 5 and iCloud are mentioned, all rumors fall into place.

WWDC, which means “Worldwide Developers Conference”, seems to now stay true to its name by remaining a software-centric event. Rumors have been around for quite some time mentioning Apple’s plans to delay the release of the next generation iPhone until the fall Music event, so this statement pretty much makes it official. iOS 5 is rumored bring some long over due enhancements like a better notifications system and more than just apps in the home screen. iCloud is also rumored to play a big role in brining iTunes services to the cloud in a better way than their current competition. The word groundbreaking has been used as part of these rumors, so I’d call it a safe bet to expect more than just these two things listed.

On the other hand, it is weird to see Apple be so specific on what they plan to do for their next event. This could either be Apple’s way of not letting people’s expectations down with a clear statement on what they’ll offer, or it could just be Apple’s way of leaving the next generation iPhone for Steve Jobs’ favorite phrase: “But wait, There’s one more thing”.
