Apple Hits Milestone Of 500,000 Apps In the App Store
According to an infographic with summarized data from Chop, 148apps and Chillingo, Apple’s iTunes App Store is now home for more than 500,000 applications “and counting”, surpassing a huge milestone of its existence.
There are more than 85,500 developers at work and from the total of 500,000 applications 37% (185,000) are free. The rest go for an average price of $3.64. Launched on July 10, 2008, the App Store managed to hit 500,000 applications in less than three years.
Breaking down into categories, the current App Store content looks like this: books 14%, education 8%, entertainment 11%, games 15%, lifestyle 7% and other 44%. Each developer has a number of 4.6 applications up in the App Store on an average and the value of all applications is $891,982.24.
