Apple to Use Curved Glass With Next iPhone?

Not a day without your dose of upcoming iPhone rumors and here’s an interesting one to get your week started: according to reports, Apple‘s next smartphone is likely to feature a curved glass, pretty much a la Google Nexus S or Dell Venue Pro.

DigiTimes reports that the Apple iPhone supply chain birds chirped about Apple’s alleged adoption of a curved cover glass for its next generation model. According to sources, Apple reportedly has purchased more than 200 glass cutting machines to be used by glass makers since they avoided the purchase because of high costs such investments would imply.

The machines are currently stored at associated assembly plants but are ready to be moved as soon as yield rates for curved glass production reaches a certain level necessary to start everything off. While no other information has been made public, such as dates, quantities or other costs, Apple is allegedly still in talks with suppliers regarding cover glass, glass cutting, lamination and touch sensors to improve yield rates.
