Apple’s Next Gen iPhone Should Be Announced 8/24, Says Tradition
Because we know you were craving for your daily dose of next-gen iPhone rumors, here’s a speculation for you! One of the iPhone equipment suppliers has indicated that Apple’s orders for new equipment are “several months later than usual”, indirectly hinting towards a September release date — nothing we didn’t hear until now.
The interesting part comes from Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster who took his time and looked into numbers and tradition concerning Apple’s habit of announcing the platform, the hardware and then making them both available. Turns out there are, on average, 79 days between Apple’s iOS software announcement and the iPhone hardware announcement the same way there are roughly 99 days between the software announcement and the availability date for the hardware.
Looking at the table above, you can see Cupertino’s tradition going as back as the iPhone 3G. Continuing the math, the prediction is for an August 24 iPhone announcement with a September 13 availability, since the next iOS is expected on June 6, according to rumors. How about that for a prediction?
