MetroPCS Samsung Galaxy Indulge Update Has LTE, SMS Fixes

Samsung’s Galaxy Indulge on MetroPCS LTE is in the midst of getting an OTA update, bringing the Android smartphone assorted bugfixes related to LTE service, photo-taking, and text-messaging.

Your phone should automatically download the update in the background, notifying you when it’s been fully received and the phone is about to install it. Once that’s done, the Indulge will finally properly recognize its LTE modem, displaying correct firmware version numbers. You’ll also be able to tell when the smartphone is using LTE for data, thanks to a 4G icon on the phone’s status bar, and the Indulge will now automatically re-negotiate an LTE data session after a period where it loses connectivity.

Improvements to the Indulge’s camera mean that you can now decide whether or not to store geotagging data when you snap a photo. The update also squashes an obscure bug that could keep you from launching the camera app under specific circumstances.

The changes to text-message handling look like they’re addressing the old Android SMS bug, where the smartphone would sometimes send a text to the wrong contact. The update also improves SMS conversation threading, now correctly displaying the conversation you choose.

If you haven’t seen it yet, just sit tight; your update should be on the way soon.
