LG Revolution Could Go On Sale May 26, Say Best Buy Shots [UPDATE]
The LG Revolution on Verizon LTE may have missed its chance to be the smartphone that would introduce the Android community to streaming Netflix video, but there are still plenty of firsts left for the handset; it’s been tipped to be the first phone on Verizon to use its LTE connection for regular voice calls in addition to data. That capability is still a bit of a ways off, expected to arrive via update sometime next year, but what about the Revolution itself – when will it get here? It missed the May 12 date we heard rumored for it, but now there’s a chance it will arrive on May 26, same as Verizon recently confirmed for the Xperia Play, and we’ve heard rumored for the Droid X².
This new date comes courtesy of some leaked Best Buy shots. The first ties the Revolution to a Best Buy SKU number, and though the second doesn’t identify the smartphone by name, that very same SKU shows that the retailer is expecting stock to arrive on May 25, presumably a day before sales would start. We’ve also seen that date pop up in a Revolution press shot, adding credence to the possibility.
A rumor from last month puts the Revolution’s price at around $250. Verizon’s been launching its 4G LTE phones at $300, so this could be a nice change of pace if it turns out to be accurate. We may know for sure soon; considering Verizon announced the Play today, we could expect a statement about the Revolution to be made in the same sort of timeframe before its rumored launch. Then again, LTE launches have been plagued by delays, so the carrier might be holding off until we’re closer to the date.
Update: This date now looks to be confirmed.
