Official Samsung Droid Charge Update ED2 Announced

The Samsung-made Verizon Droid Charge is available since Saturday for $299.99 after being last minute delayed and the carrier is already announcing an official update to make the smartphone better (or in this case, remove some functionality).

The software update is ED2 and, while bringing nothing major, it improves the Droid Charge from the Media Hub point of view, with two improvements. First of all, it prevents the Media Hub from downloading content over the 3G network. “This application will only work in the 4G network or when using Wi-Fi to ensure quality and speed”. Second, a Media Hub pop-up message will inform

you of the size of the download when in a 4G coverage area

before downloading.

If you want to keep using your Media Hub over 3G you might want to pass this update but if your day-to-day usage meets constant 4G and/or WiFi, it shouldn’t be something to pass upon. The update itself is 5.2MB in weight.
