Is This the Sony Ericsson Azusa aka ST18i? [Update]

After an alleged Android-powered Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phone leak recently here comes another one and this is purportedly the smartphone codenamed Azusa we’ve seen two weeks ago popping up on NenaMark’s website. Mr. Blurrycam in action brings us three shots: front, back and with the battery cover popped off.

The device pictured is clearly wearing the Xperia branding and has the bottom button layout and styling from the new Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro. NenaMark didn’t give us many details except that it’s running Google Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, has a screen with FWVGA (480 x 854) resolution and it’s powered by a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU — which made us wonder whether it has 1GHz Snapdragon CPU like the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which has the same GPU.

From the UAProf file we can also dig up a confirmation for Android Gingerbread and FWVGA resolution plus the model number ST18i. The CPU appears to be a Cortex-A8-type and from the pictures we can see the front-facing webcam at the top left plus a camera at the back with flash. Judging by the size of the front-facing webcam, the screen seems to be rather small, around three inches so chances are this smartphone will be a budget mid-range one.

Update: We’re being told that the device pictured and described above is not the Azusa but the Urushi and it’s not the ST18i but rather the ST18a, by the text “AAD-3880118-BV”. The Urushi supports UMTS 2100(I)/1900(II)/850(V)/800(VI) and quad-band GSM frequencies while the Azusa is reportedly the Xperia Acro (SO-02C).
