Verizon HTC Thunderbolt Update Buggy, Causing Resets?
Yesterday’s Verizon Thunderbolt update looked like a pretty sweet deal at first; users reported definitely noticing the improved 3G performance, and we already had a rooted version of the update available by yesterday evening. While seemingly a success, the update may not be all good news, as we’re seeing reports now of users whose smartphones are much more prone to random resets following installation of the update.
Verizon abruptly changed its mind about sending out the update originally, putting in some more time to test it before release. Sadly, it looks like it may have still missed something; even though we can’t definitively tie these resets to a change made as a result of the update, anecdotal reports of resets following its installation make the patch seem to be the likely culprit. These problems were noticed with the early, leaked version of the update, and despite public discussion of those issues in online forums, Verizon seems to have not noticed or decided to release the update in spite of these issues.
Have you noticed any spontaneous resets on your Thunderbolt following installation of yesterday’s update? Are you wishing you didn’t install it, or do the benefits outweigh the impact of any bugs?
