HTC Trophy Dummy Units Hit Best Buy; Release On for Thursday?
Verizon users will soon be able to join the world of Windows Phone 7, assuming the HTC Trophy launch finally manages to get off the ground. As the last major carrier in the US to get a WP7 device, it seems like Verizon’s been taking forever to finally start offering the Trophy up for sale. We just got a look at the first press shots of the smartphone late last week, and have heard a rumored launch date of May 12. That’s sounding increasingly plausible, since Trophy dummy units are now being set up in Best Buy stores.
While the accompanying info sheet with pricing data has yet to be posted, it’s clear from this image that Best Buy is well on its way to getting displays put together in anticipation of Trophy sales. Certainly, if things are to get started this Thursday, the retailer wouldn’t have much longer to wait before getting itself set up like this. While dummy units like this can go up well in advance of a phone’s release, especially if it sees last-minute delays (as was the case with the Thunderbolt), we’re seeing nothing but evidence in support of a release sooner rather than later.
