Android Market Now Suggesting Apps In-Browser
With all the excitement Google’s managed to stir up with its announcements at Google I/O today, it’s easy for the smaller changes to fall through the cracks. The Android Market’s big news today was that it now supports movie rentals, but that’s not the only thing that Google has added to the service. Now, when you install an app over its web interface, the Android Market will suggest a few other apps you also might be interested in checking out.
Considering the sheer number of Android apps available for download, any unobtrusive way Google can think up to help us discover new apps we might enjoy sounds pretty good to us. Recommendations come from statistics showing what other downloads were popular with users who just downloaded the same app you did. A more sophisticated system matching the history of all apps you’ve collected against other users might be more powerful, but this look like it will work just fine, in a pinch. Give it a spin in your PC’s web browser and see if you can’t find some useful suggestions.
